Abstract

This paper’s objective is to explore how these changes and governance challenges in Bangladesh (recognised as a trade partner and a pivotal actor in the maintenance of stability within the Indo-Pacific region) are incorporated into the discourses: (1) of the three European Union countries forming the Weimar Triangle: Germany, France and Poland, and (2) of the EU, which positions itself as a global power. Such an approach will facilitate a nuanced, dual-level understanding, encompassing a country-specific focus and an international organisation orientation. The study adopts discourse theory and critical discourse analysis in international relations (IR) as formulated by J. Roger, J. Milliken, and A. Holzscheiter. To achieve these goals, an extensive review of official governmental discourses, complemented by analyses from think tanks and the press, in English, German, French and Polish, will be conducted.
